It is hard to believe how much a simple challenge can change your life. When I first signed up for the 30 Day Dailey Method Challenge in June, I did not realize I would fall in love with Yin Yoga and how much I would benefit mentally and physically from practicing Yin Yoga a couple times a week.
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures that are held for longer periods of time. It generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
Benefits of Yin Yoga:
- Reduction in stress and anxiety
- Increased circulation
- Improved flexibility
- Calmness of the mind and body
The Dailey Method Studio creates a relaxing setting for Yin Yoga. Imagine practicing yoga in a quiet room, illuminated only by candlelight. With each pose, you can feel your body relaxing and releasing stress and tension. With each breath, you can feel anxiety leaving your mind.
After each Yin class, my heart rate is lower, my breathing is deeper and I feel calm from head to toe. I highly recommend Yin Yoga to everyone, especially those who suffer from anxiety. While doing the Yin sessions, I can honestly feel the stress/anxiety leaving my body. The classes teach you the importance of breathing properly and I now use these techniques in my daily life. Whenever I feel anxious, I practice breathing exercises that I learned in my Yin Yoga classes.
I encourage you to try something out of your comfort zone as you never know where it will lead to. When I first started the challenge at the Dailey Method Studio, I had no idea that it would lead me to Yin Yoga, something that is now an important part of my selfcare routine.
