If you’ve already gotten into the groove of making meal plans, you might be noticing that although you’re able to eat healthier and save money, they can become quite boring and monotonous. It’s hard to keep the excitement around when you’re eating the same thing every week, and it definitely can make you break the habit. Meal planning is important, so learning how to spice up your meal plans to keep them going is a great idea! Following these tips to spice up your meal plans can make a huge difference!
1. Pinterest is your best friend.
Pinterest is the best way you can spice up your meal plans, without a doubt! If you don’t have a Pinterest account, make one so that you can find delicious recipes to add to your meal plans. You can make a whole board of pins solely dedicated to recipes for your meal plans! There are also tons of meal plan templates on Pinterest that you could use to spice up your meal plans if you’re looking for that kind of thing. Sometimes it’s easier to use a template and just fill it in so you don’t have to spend as much time creating your own. There are even pre-made meal plans on Pinterest that you can just copy and follow! This will add a whole new dimension to your meal plans by adding new recipes and new ways of eating, too! 2. Freezer meals.
Freezer meals are a great way to spice up your meal plans. Sometimes, you might decide throughout the week that one of the meals you planned doesn’t sound good or that you’ve just had it too much recently and you want something else. If you spend a day once a month or once a week making up a bunch of freezer meals that you haven’t included in your meal plans for the week, you’ll have something to fall back on in case you change your mind last minute!
3. Try a new style of eating.
If you’re just throwing regular recipes into your rotation, it might be a nice way to spice up your meal plans by trying something new! If you’ve been considering meatless Mondays, there are tons of great vegetarian recipes on Pinterest that you can try. If you’re wanting to try Paleo, there is a bunch of recipes and resources on Pinterest as well. No matter what it is, trying a new style of eating will spice up your meal plans – and you might even find that you like that style of eating better than what you’re used to!
4. Try not to repeat anything.
During the week, it might seem like a daunting task to cook every night. By relying on freezer meals, prepping ahead, and using the slow cooker, you’ll find that it’s not as bad as you might think! To spice up your meal plans, try cooking something different each night. You can certainly eat leftovers for lunches during the day to be cost efficient and not wasteful, but having a new dinner each night is a great way to spice things up!

I try to use my cookbooks every once in a while! I have a ton but I never use them. It’s a fun way to get me out of my tex mex rut.
