I always believe that clearing your mind is the first step to a healthy and happy you. As the New Year approaches. I ask that you try this exercise. I have done it for a couple of years now and it helps.
1. Take 2 jars (mason, plastic doesn’t matter as long as it is something with a lid). The whole goal is to shut the lid on the past, or keep a secret stash of happiness/positive thoughts around for you when you need them.
2. Take one sheet of printables, cut the individual sections and start writing.
3. Write as much as you can. Start writing what you want to be forgiven for or who you want to forgive. This usually helps me write my goals for the year.
4. After you have written on the paper, fold it and put it in the jar. This will allow you to let it go and set yourself free from the thought.
5. If you don’t want anyone to read the papers, empty them in the trash on trash day or burn them (please be careful). Do whatever you like as long as you get the thoughts out of your head.
6. Next move on to the happiness jar/positive thoughts jar. Write down thoughts that will make you smile, reasons why you are happy or positive thoughts.
7. After you have written on the paper, fold it and put it in the jar. Whenever you are having a bad day, pull a positive thought out of this jar. Read it and reflect on the positive.
Here are the printable sheets for this project.
