Fear – a pesky 4 letter word that affects my life….every single day.
My top 3 fears are:
1. Bears
2. Water
3. Bridges
Irrational? I know. Welcome to how my mind works.
You may wonder how these fears go together. Well…. here it goes.
Bears. They chase you, kill you and you die.
Water. You can drown and you die.
Bridges. They are built above water. They can crumble and you fall into the water, you drown and die.
They all have one thing in common — dying. More about my fear of dying later.
My worst nightmare —- Being chased by a bear over a bridge.
Let me explain each fear in a bit more detail.
Bears
Don’t let those cute faces fool you. Bears are scary!
When I was 16 years old, I lived in an area that had lots of bears. They would rip clothes off clothes lines, rip open garbage, and wander the streets during the day. Animal Control tranquilized one in front of my house one day and that is how my fear of bears started.
One day, I was riding my bike along a trail in the woods. WHAT WAS I THINKING! Guess what I ran into?! A bear cub. I thought it was a big dog so I did not react right away. Once I realized it was not a dog, I peddled my bike home so fast. Panic set in and my little legs peddled like no tomorrow.
Water
When I was a wee thing, I fell head first into a big wash basin. I was not injured but it was enough to make me afraid of water. When I was a teenager (around the same time I learned about bears), I decided to go swimming near some rapids with a friend. Tip – not a good idea when you are a terrible swimmer and are afraid of water.
Bridges
I am having a panic attack just looking at that photo!
There is a huge, crazy bridge that goes over the Thousand Islands. Every time I go on a #KickassRoadTrip, I need to go over the bridge. I am always the one driving over the bridge and it scares me so much that I start singing in order to calm myself (embarrassing fact). I am often with Angele and she likes to open the window, talk about the great view and take photos. I am hyperventilating and she is taking photos!
We ALL have fears. I think it is important to talk about them so I am starting a new series called Kicking Fear in the Ass. I strongly believe that by sharing our stories, we can help others so I asked fellow bloggers to share their fears:

What is your worst fear?

Yes, I can so relate, I wish I could turn my mind off sometimes. I hate the feeling of panic.not being able to breath or move. it’s paralyzing.

My worst fear for years was that my husband would leave me. Totally irrational because that man is a rock and commitment is his middle name. I can now say this out loud without the fear that it will come true. It won’t. I know that now.
On Friday, we will celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary!
There… that Ann is my biggest fear.
