Road trip…one of my favourite words. I strive to go on a couple road trips a year as I find them energizing and a great way to explore and discover new places.
This past summer, I had the opportunity to borrow a Ford Expedition for two separate road trips (Blogcation Retreat in Prince Edward County and Blogher in NYC). I fell in love with the Ford Expedition and quickly decided it was the PERFECT road trip vehicle.
Here are 5 reasons the Ford Expedition is the perfect road trip vehicle:
Comfort
The Ford Expedition is very comfortable. My first road trip in the Expedition was for the Blogcation Retreat in Prince Edward County. I sat in the rear for most of the road trip and I was extremely comfortable. I had plenty of leg room and had my own air control for that section. I am always warm in a car, so I like to have cold air continuously flowing towards me. Throw in 30 degree Celcius temperatures, and it becomes a necessity. I often hate sitting in the back of a vehicle due to the lack of air flow. This is not a problem at all with the Ford Expedition.
Comfort is one of the reasons I am so happy Angele and I were able to drive the Expedition to NYC in July. I was either driving or sitting in the front passenger seat for this road trip. I was incredibly comfortable for the 9 hour trip there and the 11 hour trip home. My back did not hurt at all and I did not feel like I was sitting in a car all day.
Spacious
The Ford Expedition is extremely spacious. It fits 8 passengers comfortably and has a a lot of luggage space. Luggage space is very important when you are going on a blogger road trip. My road trips usually mean lots of luggage and quite a bit of swag.
We had a lot of stuff to bring to our rental house for Blogcation and we had no problem fitting all the items in the Expedition. We folded the back two seats down and had plenty of room for everything.

Power-deloyable running boards
One of the coolest features! Basically, it is a step that lowers to help you get into the vehicle. I am 5’5” and I find it can be difficult stepping up into a high vehicle. No problem at all with the Expedition. You open the door and the step lowers automatically.
Blind Spot Information System
There are no words to describe driving downtown NYC. People drive in every direction, whether or not the traffic light is green. Lanes suddenly end…no warning and you are desperate to change lanes, in NYC rush hour. I was so glad that our road trip vehicle was equipped with BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System). If not for BLIS® , I would probably still be trying to navigate my way through downtown NYC.
Here is technical info regarding this fantastic feature from the Ford site:
“The available BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert uses radar to identify if a vehicle is detected in your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the appropriate exterior mirror. Cross-traffic alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you as you’re slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway. If cross-traffic sensors detect a vehicle approaching from up to 13 metres away, you will be audibly and visually alerted.”

Rear View Camera
I hate parallel parking and will do anything possible to avoid parallel parking. I am sure I am not the only person that has that fear.
The Ford Expedition comes equipped with a fantastic rear view camera. When we were in Prince Edward County for Blogcation Retreat, Vanessa drove the Expedition through the County. A few times she needed to park the car and parallel parking as the only option. Vanessa was able to park the vehicle in very tight spots thanks to the rear view camera.
Details regarding the rear view camera via the Ford site. “Slowly backing up your vehicle, especially in tight places or when hitching up to a trailer, is not always an easy task. But thanks to technology, it’s easier with the standard rear view camera. The large, bright, real-time visual is displayed in the standard 4.2-inch centre display, or on the 8-inch LCD touch screen in vehicles equipped with available SYNC® with MyFord Touch®.
I love the Ford Expedition and have only fantastic things to say about it. I have always been afraid about driving a big vehicle like an Expedition (parking, merging lanes, fuel consumption) but all my fears are now gone. The car is super easy to drive and park, great on gas and provides a comfortable drive. I felt very safe on both my road trips, even through the crazy streets of New York City. It is the perfect road trip vehicle.
