In November, I was thrilled to be invited to a Blogger weekend at Whitewater Village. The Village is located about an hour outside of Ottawa. The perfect distance for an old fashioned road trip. Throw in a luxury cottage, awesome bloggers and I am ready to go! My companions were Shannon (Shannon’s View From Here) Vanessa (Turnip Seed Travel) and Sandi (Canadian Blog House).
I must start by saying that I am a bit of a snob when it comes to camping and cottages. I don’t go camping at all! I don’t like tents, outhouses or anything else primitive. When I go away, I like to have the comforts of home, including a fantastic kitchen, spacious bedrooms and fully functioning washrooms. Wifi is a must as are televisions and central air. Some of you are probably rolling your eyes at me but I am just not a fan. And don’t get me started on my fear of bears!
I knew as soon as we drove up to the cottage that I would not be disappointed! This gorgeous house was waiting for us! The girls and I were so excited and could not wait to run into the cottage and check it out.
Once we went inside, the four of us went from room to room, mouths open in astonishment, as we soaked up the pure luxury of the cottage. We set up our cameras right away and starting taking photos to share with our readers.
The cottage had a luxurious bedroom (with a full ensuite bathroom) on the main floor, a welcoming living room and a stunning kitchen. The fireplace was already burning when we arrived (a nice touch) and the cottage was toasty warm. The leather sectional couch in this photo quickly became my favourite spot. Vanessa (Turnip Seed Travel) and Sandy (Canadian Blog House) share great photos of the cottage on their sites.
We all picked out our room, unpacked our bags and quickly went back downstairs to chat, enjoy the fire, have some wine and pie. All weekends away need chocolate cream pie!
I slept in the den located upstairs in the loft. The den has a very comfortable pull out couch and a private deck. Check out my view first thing in the am!
One thing that struck me while at Whitewater was the emotional beauty of the cottage and the location. I am a single mom of two teens and work full time. I am up to my eyeballs in stress and anxiety. While at the cottage, all the stress and anxiety disappeared. I felt like I was visiting a friend in their home. The girls and I sat around the large sectional couch, enjoyed the roaring fire, ate snacks, shared our life stories and blogged. We all commented on how comfortable we felt and that it did not feel like we were staying at a cottage. I was so comfortable in fact, I MAY have fallen asleep on the couch while we were talking.
I will definitely go back to Whitewater Village. I am dreaming of staying at the cottage in the summer. Enjoying the beach, meditating on the deck outside my bedroom (yes, I have claimed the den again!), eating a delicious BBQ on the large deck overlooking the beach and having s’mores by a towering bonfire. Doesn’t that sound like a KickAss time?
Life is so busy. We all need to decompress, unwind and enjoy quality time with friends and family. Life is short and it is so important to make memories and cherish all the KickAss things in the world.
If you want to experience a KickAss weekend at Whitewater Village, check out the great deal they are offering my readers. Enjoy a two night escape for only $250 (regular price is $750). There are 4 bedrooms at the cottage and it can easily accommodate 8 people. Go unwind, enjoy a gorgeous cottage, recharge your emotional battery and have a nap on that KickAss couch 🙂

WOW that sounds like the prefect little getaway & so close to the GTA. We do a lot of camping so we haven`t treated the kids to a cottage yet. This sounds like something everyone should get a chance to do. Thanks for sharing!

Our family loves roughing it in the woods, but I don’t think it’s much of a gamble to say that they would love this as well. We did a time share one time that was beautiful like this and it would be easy to do more often if time and finances permitted.
