Whether you want to meet a celebrity, or you are just looking for some fun historic places to visit, these Free Things To Do In Los Angeles are going to be perfect! They are great activities that cost nothing but you time. Being able to see famous places, people and things on a budget is a dream come true!
Free Things To Do In Los Angeles
Visit Le Brea Tar Pits: The pits are totally free to enjoy, and have tons of history involved. Pretend you are a prehistoric animal and have fun taking pictures near and around the pits. They have been featured in numerous movies, television shows and history books for years.
Visit the UCLA Sculpture Garden: Free to roam around with over 50 sculptures this is a great way to spend an afternoon stroll. If you are an art enthusiast, you’ll love the beautiful pieces shown here.
Walk the Hollywood Walk Of Fame: Find your favorite star on the Walk of Fame and see if your hands or feet fit into theirs. Take a picture by your favorite actor or actress star along the way.
Visit the Griffith Observatory: If astronomy is your thing, this is the place to go for a fun evening watching the stars from one of the best locations in the world.
Hike to the famous Hollywood sign: It’s a good hike, and often blocked off, but it is well worth your time to get a great clear picture, or a fun picture of you standing near it.
Visit San Antonio Winery: This winery near downtown LA offers not only free tours, but free tastings as well! Spend a few dollars and enjoy a bottle of your favorite wine.
Visit Greystone Mansion: This is simply a beautiful destination with magnificent structures and grounds. Take a walk, plan a picnic or even plan your wedding for this destination.
Visit the UCLA Planetarium: If the stars and astronomy hold appeal for you and your family, this is a great free place to visit. Free shows later in the evening are available a few evenings a week. Look up their schedule online and plan accordingly.
Visit The Last Bookstore: This store is supposedly the largest independent bookstore, and is a great destination to wander around the aisles finding fun items, new books and obscure authors.
Find celebrity homes. Grab a map of the stars and head out on your own adventure to ride around Los Angeles and Beverly Hills looking for a celebrity home.
Visit Rodeo Drive. Of course this is the premier place for high end shopping, but it can also be a great place for you to visit and watch for celebrity sightings, or simply take in the famous Rodeo Drive sign.
Visit the Korean Friendship Bell. Breathtaking views, fun history and a great place for a photo opportunity, this is a fun stop on your list of free things to do in Los Angeles.
Have you ever been to Los Angeles? What were your favorite things to do?

I know that the cost of living in Los Angeles is quite high, so it’s nice to know there are free things to enjoy in the city.

I live in the LA area and still need to do some of your list. Word of wisdom… watch for the parking signs on Wilshire Blvd. We came out of the La Brea Tar Pits and LACMA to find our car had been towed. Around 5pm the on street parking spots become another lane of traffic. My handbag, computer and suitcase were in the trunk. I about passed out when I realized our car was really gone. Ha!

Thank you for this list. I haven’t been to the La Brea Tarpits since I was a little girl. The bookstore sounds like a wonderful place to while away some time.
